Elestore
base package (single user)
This base package contains all needed software to run
Elestore on one PC with a local database. It is also available
as a multi-user system (ES102-108) with a database on
a central server within your LAN (local area network).
This base package includes these core features:

These multi-user packages consist of the database server
running on a server PC within your LAN and of the given
number of Elestore clients. The clients have all the features

User access rights administration
This module comprises of the server part needed for the
administration of users and user access rights. Additionally,
every client must be equipped with the module ES301. |
| ES202 |
Article number database
This module comprises of the article number database for
storing autonomous article number objects and cross-references
between different article number objects as well as between
article number objects and article objects. If this module
is part of your Elestore server the article number browser
will be automatically available to all your Elestore clients.
This module is also a precondition if one wants to make
full use of the Elepub module EP203 for automatically
exchanging article numbers in existing layouts. This is
for article numbers related to customers or suppliers.

Data change history database
This module comprises of the change history database,
which stores data changes to most data objects in Elestore.
If this module is part of your Elestore server the change
history browser will be available automatically for all
of your Elestore clients. |

Data upload to EleAIS web server
This module comprises of the logic and the interface needed
to upload Elestore data objects to the EleAIS Web server
acting as server database for Elestore AIS – the
Product Information System, which makes Elestore data
available to your business partners in an Internet browser.
This module does not include EleAIS itself. See EleAIS. |

Accessing data in foreign DB
This module supports the access to foreign user databases
via virtual DataLink objects, which access data in foreign
databases and which are also able to temporarily cache
foreign data. This includes the database interface to
MSAccess (requires ES203). Direct interfaces to other
databases must be ordered separately. |

This module establishes the connection to MSAccess databases
for importing and exporting data from and to MSAccess.

This module enables Elestore to exchange data with the

CATpool data consumer this module is neither needed nor
available. The same is true for non-CATpool members. This
module is an amalgam of Elestore and the CATpool-PCM software
and it allows CATpool members to communicate with CATpool
through the Elestore software as though they were using
the respective CATpool software. |

CATpool server DB access for data consumers
This module enables Elestore to exchange data with the
CATpool server database as a data consumer. This module
is available only to CATpool data consumer members. For
CATpool data vendors this module is neither needed nor
available. The same is true for non-CATpool members. This
module is an amalgam of Elestore and the CATpool-PCM software
and it allows CATpool members to communicate with CATpool
through the Elestore software as though they were using
the respective CATpool software. |
Elestore
client modules
These client modules are required for each Elestore client
separately unless otherwise mentioned. |

This client module enables an Elestore client to require
a user log-in when starting to work with Elestore. The
module ES204 must exist in your Elestore server as a precondition
for ES501. |

QuickEditing in MSExcel
This module comprises of the QuickEditing feature for
using MSExcel as an editor from within Elestore. Elestore
data can be exported very quickly for editing in MSExcel
and it is then automatically re-imported into the Elestore
database. This module does not include the MSExcel software
itself, of course. It requires MSExcel version 2003 or
newer on every PC where this Elestore client is running. |

QuickPublish layout preview in Elestore
This module comprises of the QuickPublish feature, which
allows a quick preview of a selected article in an Elepub
page from within Elestore so that the user can immediately
see how a particular article will look in the selected
layout module. This module requires the Elepub base package
as part of your server installation. This module is available
for single Elestore clients (i.e. not required for all
existing clients). |

SequenceBrowser to define publication content
This module makes the Elepub SequenceBrowser available
inside Elestore clients so that these clients can edit
publication sequences, which define the number and the
order of article, text and image objects for publications
as well as the product layout types to be used. Although
the SequenceBrowser is part of the Elepub base product
it will often make sense to make the sequence browser
available to product managers and other Elestore users
so that they can edit the content of publications without
necessarily needing access to the full Elepub software.
This module is available for single Elestore clients (i.e.
not required for all existing clients). |

Elepub base package (single user)
This single user package contains all needed software
to run Elepub on one PC with its own publishing database
and with access to the Elestore database. This version

Elepub multi-user versions
The Elepub base package can be enhanced to a multi-user
system by adding additional Elepub clients as defined
by module EP301. Just add one or more clients EP301 to
module EP101 to get a multi-user system. In this case
the publishing database must be placed on a server within
your LAN (local area network), which is accessible by
all Elepub clients. |

Automatic language exchange in layouts
This module enables Elepub to automatically exchange the
language of existing layout via one central switch. The
layout itself remains unchanged. Only the content is exchanged
to another language, which is loaded from the same data
objects in Elestore. |
| EP202 |
Automatic price and field exchange in layouts
This module enables Elepub to automatically exchange data
field references in mother objects for existing layout
so that the frame content in all child frames is automatically
replaced with the content of a different data field without
a new layout generation. This exchanges all price and
other data fields from the article object with the exception
of article numbers and languages, which are handled differently.
The layout’s size and position remain intentionally
unchanged. This module also closely co-operates with Elecalc
so that customer specific prices from Elecalc can be visualised
and exchanged in existing layout. |
| EP203 |
Automatic article number exchange in layouts
This module enables Elepub to automatically exchange article
numbers from the article number database in existing layout.
This module creates links to the article number database
and it enables you to modify such links in mother objects,
which results in a change for all its children in existing
pages so that a different type of article number will
be displayed in the existing layout (no new layout generation
needed). This requires that the Elestore installation
contains module ES202, the article number database. |

Generate HTML
This module expands Elepub to act as an HTML page generator
in that it converts pages in Elepub to HTML fully preserving
the original layout, which is within the limits set by
HTML and inherent to Internet browser technology. |
| EP232 |
Export of pages to InDesign
This module converts pages in Elepub to InDesign. InDesign
is opened and driven from this module and pages are created
interactively by this Elepub module and finally stored
in InDesign files. This module acts on chapters, sections
or single pages. Various settings define details of the
generated InDesign pages and files. The pages produced
in InDesign correspond very closely to the original Elepub
page layout. This module requires the presence of an installed
2005 version of InDesign on the same client computer where
it runs. The InDesign software itself is not part of this
module, of course. |

Re-import of pages created by Elepub from InDesign
This module enables the re-import of publication pages
created by Elepub from InDesign so that modifications
made in InDesign to frames created by Elepub or to their
content are re-imported into the Elepub database. This
allows the use of InDesign as a WYSIWYG editor for Elepub. |

Generate CDF files for Elecat
This module exports publications in Elepub to the CDF
format supported by Elecat. CDF files contain page views,
article data and links. This enables Elepub users to distribute
Elepub publications in CDF files to their business partners
who use these CDF files in their Elecat readers (free).
The CDF format is different from and more comprehensive
than PDF and it had been introduced much earlier than
PDF. |

Export of Elepub pages to XML
This module exports Elepub publications to XML giving
Elepub users the freedom to export their entire publications
to this industry standard data format for subsequent use
in other software systems. |
| EP236 |
Export of Elepub pages to QuarkXpress
This module exports Elepub publications to the special
XML format, which is used by a QuarkXPress Xtension, which
is part of this module, for importing Elepub pages from
XML into QuarkXPress. Note that due to the technically
primitive and very limited interfacing capabilities of
QuarkXPress the result of this data transfer is very limited
compared to the integration of InDesign with Elepub. We
strongly recommend you to use InDesign instead. QuarkXPress
is not only technically a very old software but their
authors also refuse to open it up for modern interface
technologies like the COM interface, which would enable
a much better and easier data transfer. Sorry, these limits
are imposed by QuarkXPress alone! |

Export of Elepub pages to Framemaker
This module is available upon special request only. It
needs some changes to the XML export of Elepub to make
this XML compatible to the import requirements of FrameMaker,
because FrameMaker does not understand the standard XML
format exported by Elepub.. There has not yet been a request
for an export to FrameMaker and this is to indicate that
we can supply this if required. |
Elepub client modules
The following modules apply to each Elepub client beyond
the Elepub base package. |

Elepub basic client
This module comprises of an additional Elepub client with
all features of the Elepub base package except for the
generator (EP303). This client allows manual editing of
Elepub publications on one additional client PC and it
thereby extends the base package to a multi-user system. |
| EP302 |
InDesign as Elepub editor
This module supplies a very close integration of InDesign
as a WYSIWYG editor into Elepub so that InDesign can practically
be used as a page editor for existing Elepub pages as
well as for designing new layout structures in InDesign
with subsequent import into Elepub. |
| EP303 |
Additional Elepub generator in an Elepub client
This module comprises of an Elepub generator and it adds
to the basic Elepub package all the modules needed to
upgrade this client to the same state as the Elepub base
package. This module is only needed if the one Elepub
generator in the base package is insufficient and if one
wants to generate layout and pages simultaneously on two
or more computers. |
Elecalc
— the pricing management and calculation system |

Elecalc
Elecalc is an optional software product enhancing the
Elexxx family with everything needed to autonomously administrate,
calculate and store pricing information far beyond prices.
Elecalc supports pricing rules as well as user-defined
calculation formulas using MSExcel spreadsheets resulting
in a very sophisticated and user-definable logic to individually
store and calculate pricing data and prices. Elecalc incorporates
15+ years experience from developing a wide-spread ERP
system for the automotive industry where differentiated
pricing logic has been cultivated to the highest level.
Elecalc is for users whose ERP system is not or not well
capable of exporting prices for use by the Elexxx products,
which is very often the case. Elecalc stores prices and
pricing information for customers and from suppliers.
Elecalc turns Elepub into a price list generator without
any need for data import from an ERP system and it enhances
Elestore to act as a price data exporter using any of
the many supported industrystandard data norms for supplying
prices to customers and/or receiving pricing information
from vendors. Elecalc closely co-operates with Elequote.
It requires the Elestore base package. Elecalc will be
available during the II. Q. 2006. It is currently under
development. |
Elequote
— quotes administrator & quotes catalog generator |

Elequote
Elequote is an optional software product combining data
and features from Elestore and Elepub for use as a quotes
entry, editor and administration system. A special generator
uses content from Elestore and frame layout objects from
Elepub to automatically generate special "quotes
catalogues", which presents the items in quote in
the form of a special page based product catalogue (individual
layout possible). Prices from Elecalc can also be used.
Elequote works autonomously or in co-operation with your
ERP system importing offer entities from you ERP to create
additional "quotes catalogues". Quotes imported
or entered into Elequote can also be exported via any
of the industry standard transaction data norms supported
by Elestore for electronic data transfer to your customers
and/or to your own ERP system. Elequote will be available
during the II. Q. 2006. It is currently under development. |
EleAIS
— the Internet based Product Information System |
| AIS101 |
EleAIS – Internet server software
EleAIS is the Internet based Product Information System,
which presents most of the content stored in your Elestore
PCM to your business partners who can access this data
from any MS IE Internet browser (5.5 or later). EleAIS
has been in use since 2003 in the Intranet of a very large
international group of companies supplying several thousand
users with detailed data of roughly 1 million products.
EleAIS offers very comprehensive selection and searching
capabilities including the searching for dynamic product
attributes. The user’s own product grouping system
is supported as well as a selection for suppliers or manufacturers.
The product data can optionally be linked bi-directionally
with product catalogue pages in HTML. EleAIS requires
Elestore with ES206 or AIS150 or ES151 and possibly AIS161. |
| AIS102 |
EleAIS user and user rights administration
This module allows users of your EleAIS to apply for a
registration directly inside an Internet browser. Users
need a user name and password to excess EleAIS. The user
registration must be approved by your system administrator
who can also grant or deny accessing rights to users for
various parts of EleAIS. |
| AIS150 |
EleAIS setup service for hosting on our common
server
This is the service needed to set up an EleAIS web server,
which stores parts of your Elestore content for presentation
in a Web browser to your business partners on the Internet.
Here “your server” means the software operating
your database and running on our physical server PC together
with other applications. There is no hardware and no additional
server housing needed in this case (except for AIS161). |

EleAIS setup service for hosting on your private
server
This service is applicable if you wish to operate your
own private server, which can either be operated by us
(server housing) or which can alternatively be located
in your own office or at your provider. |

EleAIS monthly server operating and support
service
This service is needed to operate and support your EleAIS
web server running on our common physical server PS, which
stores parts of your Elestore content for presentation
in a Web browser to your business partners on the Internet.
This includes the costs for server housing and server
support. |
